When you have Adsense ads on your site and your visitor clicks on one of them, the chances of them coming back to your site after they click are very slim. What this boils down to is, you probably earned just a few cents from that visitor and now they’re gone forever.

But what if you could earn much more than that from your visitors over the course of a few weeks or even months? One way you can do this is by building a list.

Focus on the List, Not the Clicks

Instead of focusing on getting clicks to your AdSense ads, concentrate more of your efforts on building your list. You can use techniques like squeeze pages to increase your opt-in rate. Create some sort of prize, gift or free report to offer to anyone who signs up for your list, but make sure that what you offer has value. Don’t insult your visitors by offering them worthless junk.

Track your sign-up rate and split test different set-ups to get your opt-in rate as high as you can. While your opt-in might be low in the beginning, it should be higher than 10% with some split testing.

Emailing Teasers – AdSense on Real Content

It’s important to remember that it’s against AdSense’s Terms of Service to paste AdSense code into emails. Yes, it can be done from an HTML and JavaScript perspective, but it could very well get your account disabled. So how do you take advantage of this list once you’ve built it?

Do it by writing teasers to peak their interest, but make sure the bulk of the content is on your website. The actual content on your site is where your AdSense ads will be placed.

For example, let’s say you run a site about how to decrease your mile walking time.

You might send out a brief email about why it’s so important to count your steps per breath. Then you add that if they want to find the exact techniques and steps-to-breath ratios they can find that information by visiting the article on your site, and give them the link to the article. This way, when they land on your site and read your article, they also have a chance to click on your ads.

Unlike AdSense, where you only get one chance to monetize your traffic, you can now periodically send them interesting emails that they’ll open, click through to and read.

This list you’re building could provide you with AdSense income for months and years to come. Even if search engine traffic dies down, you’ll still be able to make money from your list for a long time while you get other income sources, such as affiliate marketing, set up and ready to go.

The key with this technique is to write really good content. That way, your readers will be trained to know that whenever they click on a link from you in an email, the blog post on the other end is going to have good content that they will find useful. If you use plr articles on your sites, make sure you re-write them so that they are useful and interesting.

To summarize, having a website that’s making money with Adsense is great, but you need to also be building your list from the very beginning. Building a list allows you to monetize the traffic over months and years, rather than just one click.
