What Is Organic Search Engine Optimization?

Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a term that describes the utilization of tools and methods to get your site to appear in the top rankings in the search engine results (SERPS) naturally (without having to pay for it) and it is being tested and used by more and more internet business owners every day.

An example of this is when someone links to your website using one of the keywords you are trying to rank for as anchor text in that link. This passes what’s known as ‘link juice’ to your site, which will help your site’s page rank, and it didn’t cost you a dime.

When someone comes to the internet looking for products, services, or information, search engines are the means they use to find it. Most of these searchers don’t pay any attention to anything past the first page, which is only 10 results, so in order for your site to get noticed (and clicked on) by SE traffic, it is imperative that your site be properly optimized for the SE’s.

Optimizing your site for the search engines is only one of many ways to get traffic, but the higher your site ranks, the more traffic you can attract – and the more traffic you get, the better your chances are of having someone click on your affiliate offers once they get there.

Is Search Engine Optimization Really Necessary?

Well, the short answer could be “only if you want to make money from your site”. As stated before, if your site is not listed at or near number one – at least on the first page – of the search engine results, you just will not have as much traffic finding your site as they would otherwise. No traffic – no business.

Optimizing your website for the search engines gives you the potential of generating a high volume of traffic and thus, sales. Let’s face it, most people that come to your site will not purchase anything, so it stands to reason that you want a lot of traffic in order to benefit from that percentage that will click on something.

There are quite a few aspects of your website that must be considered for search engine optimization, and it does take work, but it can make the difference in whether your business succeeds or fails, so it is certainly worth the time and effort involved.

Following are some basic search engine optimization tips on keyword placement that are necessary to help to get your website into the top rankings.

Keyword Placement In Search Engine Optimization

Presumably you have already done your keyword research and have chosen the keywords and phrases with the best potential for your niche (keywords that get a decent amount of searches but don’t have an overwhelming amount of competition). You will need to find a main keyword, and two or three secondary long tail (keyword phrase with several words) keywords. Now it’s time to learn the key places to put those keywords for organic search engine optimization.

1. Most SEO experts agree that placing your keyword (or keyword phrase) in your title tag is the most important placement for search engine optimization.

2. In your blog or website description.

3. It is extremely important to have other sites linking to your site (backlinks) with your keyword as the anchor text. Article marketing, Squidoo lenses and Hub pages are great (free) ways to accomplish this. (Anchor text is the words you use in a link to another page or website).

4. It’s getting much harder to get a website URL of your choosing, especially if you are in a highly competitive niche, but it helps if you can get a URL with your keyword/phrase in it.

5. If you have images on your posts or pages, be sure to place your keyword/phrase inside the Alt tags.

6. In your post or page headings.

7. In the first and last paragraphs of your post or page – and use your main keyword and secondary keywords several times in your article (2 to 3 times per one hundred words). Also bold your keyword at least one time in the article.

As stated before, there are other aspects of organic search engine optimization, but keyword placement is a critical part. If you don’t get this part right, the search engines will have a hard time finding you.
